Super Easy and Economical: Beef with Mushroom-Onion Gravy
1 pound of stew meat
1 packet of onion soup mix
1 can (undiluted) mushroom soup
1/2 onion, sliced thin
1 tsp minced garlic
2 dashes or shakes of Worcestershire sauce
salt and pepper
Lightly brown, but do not cook, stew meat in frying pan. Transfer to the crock pot. Cover with slices of onion, and add a little salt and pepper.
In a bowl mix the remaining ingredients and then spread over beef. Cook on 4-5 hours on low in crock pot. (I put mine on high for the first hour)
Serve over mashed potatoes with a side salad.
Notes:
* can easily be doubled.
* You can also do a full beef roast (with vegetables) this way, increasing your cooking time to 6-8 hours depending on the size of your roast. Meat will fall apart and the sauce will be the gravy. Delicious!
