Apple Spice Custard Cake

Mom's Pantry friend Kelly Tompkins shared this recipe of her mother's with me a few days back and I've been just waiting for the time to test drive it. Today was the day! It's pouring down rain outside and the house smelled heavenly this afternoon as I made this for our dessert.

1 box spice cake mix (I used Duncan Hines)
2-3 peeled and chopped apples
1 can sweetened condensed milk
8 oz sour cream
1/4 cup lemon juice


Preheat oven to 350• 

Prepare cake mix as directed on box and fold in chopped apples.

Pour into a greased 9x13 cake pan. Bake 30 min or until done.

In a bowl, combine canned milk, sour cream, and lemon juice. Spread on top of cake immediately upon removal from oven. Return to oven for 10 min.

Sprinkle with cinnamon and refrigerate until cold.

Serve chilled.
